“Ode To Love”- SBR

You leave hearts chipped like forgotten vases
Empty vessels collecting dust and ashes
For your latest attempt to light emotion
Has only managed to burn and destroy hearts
Submerging them in a solemn darkness

Your arrows of attraction only bring misfortune
The fuzzy feeling of overwhelming joy
Turns into an engulfing numbness
The mind is then severed from thought
And control and logic is separated from decision

Through your innocent intentions
You turn naivety into bitterness
Longing of companionship to solidarity
A hope of eternity to a wish of never
And a connection to a broken chain

The puppy love you spread around
Is a feral wolf, devouring happiness
The butterflies of new affections
Are hornets attacking the inner self
Ravaging emotions to nothingness

For when one falls to you
You pull the rug from under them
And they trip and spiral into apathy
An eternal void of dreariness
The epitome of a broken heart
